Kevin Champlin, President of 815 Media, was our guest at Tuesday’s noon meeting. He talked about Artificial Intelligence, commonly referred to as AI. Kevin noted there are several programs out there, but he shared ChatGPT with us. The program can be used for free or there is a reasonably priced paid version. AI can hear, see, and talk and can be used for anything! The biggest concern people have with AI is that no one knows who is “behind the scenes.” This can create potential privacy or security issues. Kevin showed ChatGPT a photo of a bucket with golf balls and asked it to count the balls. AI calculated this and then recalculated when some Rotarians questioned the number. Kevin pointed out that AI does make mistakes and will sometimes lie if it doesn’t know specific information. He used an example of his brother creating a resume. There is a disclaimer at the bottom of the page indicating that all information may not be correct. Kevin asked ChatGPT to draw a Christmas tree in outer space, write a paragraph about Illinois, and list Illinois counties by population in a table format. When asked about Princeton Rotary, ChatGPT searched 6 sites for its information and cited its sources. AI learns as it goes, and the more it is used, the smarter it becomes. People are using AI for homework, research, creating forms, entertainment, and more. Kevin talked about ways that he uses AI within his business and the many benefits of doing so. We appreciate Kevin taking the time out of his schedule to visit with us!
